Encinitas Boardriders Make History with First National Championship Victory
In a landmark achievement for the local surf community, the Encinitas Boardriders Club clinched their first-ever national title at the 2025 United States Board Riders Clubs (USBRC) National Championship. The victory was especially significant as they triumphed over the two-time defending champions, the San Clemente Boardriders, marking a new era in competitive team surfing.
A Team Effort Fueled by Passion and Precision
The championship, held at the iconic Lower Trestles, brought together top boardriders clubs from across the country. Encinitas showcased exceptional depth and unity across all divisions, from the Under-14s to the 50+ category. Each surfer contributed to the team's overall score in the tag-team format, emphasizing the collective strength and camaraderie that define the club.
One of the standout moments came from the Women's division, where Kaia Howard delivered a remarkable performance, earning a 9-point ride and doubling it with a "whammy" for an impressive 18-point total. This pivotal contribution set the stage for the team's come-from-behind victory.
