Hansen Surfboards Invites Surfers to Try Boards from Boardroom International Surfboard Show at Demo Day

ENCINITAS, Calif., Oct. 2, 2012 – Surfers eager to try out boards on display at the Boardroom International Surfboard Show (Boardroom) are getting their chance during the Demo Morning hosted by Hansen Surfboards, Sunday, Oct. 7, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nearly 75 demo surfboards will be on hand at the event, located at 15^th St. Powerhouse Park in Del Mar, Calif. The surf spot is known for its combination of reef and beach break peaks. For entry to the Demo Morning, participants must show their Boardroom wristband.

“We have a lot of fun with this event,” said Josh Hansen. “It’s great to see surfers ride boards they’ve been eyeing for a while, and when they get that ride that feels just right, there’s nothing like it. We’re stoked to be part of that. Everyone’s in such a great mood when they’re surfing the best gear for nothing!”

Surfboards, winter 2013 wetsuits, fins and other accessories from Rusty, Lost, Bing, JS, FireWire, Billabong, Quiksilver, Xcel, Matuse, Patagonia and others will be on hand.

“We’ll also have some great deals on boards,” said Scott Bass, director of the Boardroom.

The Boardroom International Surfboard Show, honoring four-time world champion Mark Richards with its Icons of Foam tribute, is a trade and consumer show taking place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features more than 160 exhibits of surf and skateboard gear, art and collectibles, Icons of Foam shaping tribute and competition, auction of one-of-a-kind custom surfboards to benefit SurfAid International, a short films festival, skateboard competitions, live music and surfboard giveaways.

Hansen Surfboards Holds Bake Sale, Surfboard Opportunity Drawing July 21 to Help Eradicate Childhood Hunger

ENCINITAS, Calif., July 16, 2012 – The Hansen family is known for rallying behind a good cause, and this time is no different. When Hansen Surfboards employee Patty Bolton approached Josh Hansen and suggested a bake sale to raise money to help feed hungry kids, he was all for it and the whole staff joined in to help. Patty’s idea – to hold a bake sale Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the store parking lot to help raise funds for Share Our Strength, an organization that helps feed hungry kids – quickly gained popularity when Channel Islands Surfboards donated a Taylor Knox autographed board for an opportunity drawing. LOST Surfboards also donated a board for the drawing.

“I watching the cooking channel one day when I saw a special about the Share Our Strength Great American Bake Sale and it said that one in five children in America struggle with hunger every day. I decided to take my love of baking and do something good for kids in need,” explained Bolton. “When I was just starting out, I lived in a little complex near the beach full of surfers and one single mom. Her little boy used to come to my apartment every day and ask if I had any food. I used to give him whatever I had. I look back on that now, and I realize how sad that was. That little guy was actually hungry. I want to do something about kids like that. I want to help.”

Already, Bolton and the Hansen Surfboards staff has raised slightly more than $600 for Share Our Strength, just $900 shy of the goal to raise $1,500.
