Snow’s Great, No Crowds, Hit the Slopes!

It might be perfect beach weather along the coast, but up at local ski resorts, the snow’s great. See for yourself as told by my friend, Tom Jordan, who checked out Snow Summit this past Thursday with his son, Jordan Zimbelman, and brother, Ted Zimbelman.

The cool thing about the timing in all this is that I had been talking to Tom about Hansen Surfboards’ annual clearance sale because I was in the middle of working on a news release about selected ski and snowboard gear for up to 50 percent off. Well it has been quite a dry winter so far and for us at Hansen’s our snow season is about done.  As I am writing this blog post I think mammoth is going to get dumped on tonight and many parts of the country over the past weeks have finally seen some solid snow fall.  Over the past month we have seen our snow sales slow quite dramatically with the lack of snow locally and so we still have an amazing selection of snowboard and ski clothing and all the hard goods like skis, snowboards and boots to go with it. Our end of season snow sale starts February 2^nd and this will be one of our best snow sales yet as we do have a little more inventory then in past years.

I wish every day was Small Business Saturday

I’m like a guy when it comes to shopping. That is, if you make me go to a mall or a big box retailer, I shudder. I only go when I need something, and I do it as quickly as possible. In and out, with the minimum time necessary to get what I need. Then I bolt. 

I can’t stand the crowds, messy displays, chaos, and floor help who are impossible to find. If and when I finally get help, they act like they’re being asked to move mountains when all I’m requesting is something in my size. That’s why customer service is a huge deal to me. I’m not a recreational shopper, so why make the experience worse with bad service?

When I heard about Small Business Saturday (November 26), I was all over it. For one day, people are encouraged to shop at small businesses instead of large retailers.

I love that! Give people a cause to support small business!
